Competence is a function of experience, knowledge and intelligence. The Peter Principle is the satirical theory that employees are generally promoted to their level of incompetence. The reason incompetent is often rewarded is that it's easier than challenging it. In 1974, the author of the Peter a principle, Dr. Laurence J.
