Mental skills can be trained

Once you realise that you have an emotional brain, a logical brain, and a memory then this will give you a new insight into yourself and clarify why you behave and feel the way you do. Some of the assumptions you are making about other people, perhaps you should start by looking at yourself. Try asking yourself these questions:
·      Why do I feel the way I am feeling?
·      What triggers me and why do I respond the way I do?
·      What does my best self, look like and why can’t I be this way all the time?
·      Why am I feeling like my shadow self today?

Never admire quietly

Leadership is not a natural by-product of career progression, it’s a skill that takes time, patience, and practice. Mental toughness is often portrayed as determination and persistence, but it can also be viewed by your flexibility and adaptability. When you build a habit of appreciation and gratitude into all you do, you will see a positive impact on team members' motivation, idea generation, and enthusiasm. I think that when your employees feel valued, they are more likely to be more engaged and be satisfied in their work. Remember the best doers won’t always be the best leaders, and the best leaders won’t always be the best doers.

Today is your day

Social media is constantly telling us what other are doing and what interests they have. I think that the most important thing you can do in your life is to know who you are and understand what makes you different and unique. Let’s try a little experiment…
Create a list of things that you love and hate.
Look through the list and then ask yourself, “Is this because of what other people are telling me to love and hate, or does it come truly from within?”
This process in not just about your career or love life, it’s about your mental health. Discovering who you are  and what makes you unique will allow you to become acquainted with your own desires and impulses, and not be controlled by what other people are doing and thinking.

Start with the heart

I recently asked a friend of mine who happens to be a medical doctor, “Who is in charge, the heart or the brain?” He said, the brain and I said, “I am going to challenge you on that one! You can find many people in the hospital who are still alive - clinically brain dead, but when the heart stops, it’s all over.”

I think that if we look metaphorically at the brain and head, then the brain is mental and the heart is emotional. And if we put them together in harmony, we will have the mental and the emotional - one starts with “M” and the other with “E”, when we put them together we have “ME” and nobody can mess with “ME”.
