As a coach who was born and raised in London with Jamaican heritage, I developed a deep appreciation for cross-cultural understanding and respect from birth. I’m always focused on what’s most important to my clients, often asking, “What can we bring into this session to support your journey of deep reflection?” I encourage clients to incorporate any cultural or traditional elements that help them feel more connected and grounded to ensure each conversation is a powerful and meaningful experience.
As a leader
In my role as a leader, humility shapes my approach, and I don’t think that I have all the answers. I have a huge thirst for learning, and I know that I can learn something from anybody, so it’s not about me, it’s about us. Embracing inclusivity defines my leadership style, manifesting in strategies and visions carefully woven with input from stakeholders and team members alike. This collaborative synergy ensures that perspectives are valued and integrated, nurturing a cohesive and dynamic collective vision.
Scaling up good practices
I think that to grow and improve your skills, you must have the courage to face your fears. This leads to fostering co-responsibility and creating spaces to bridge differences, for example, Japan has an ageing population and a fascination with technology, and this has led to the development of companion robots. Sales professionals must allow their clients intellectual oxygen to express what’s going on in their heads. Today, it is not enough to say in words that your organisation makes a difference.
